Answer 1 :
Some of the sites you can see while driving from Denver to Colorado Springs (70 miles ) are Red Rocks Amphitheater, Dinosaur Ridge, Tiny Town 9 a miniature town ) Casa Bonita ( a typical Restaurant ) Pikes Ridge. Hope you are having fun. I would love to go there.Oh and skiing if you like to do that.
Answer 2 :
It's only a half hour drive so all you are really going to see is Castle Rock.
Answer 3 :
Not really........if you want to go a little out of the way.....Royal Gorge is kinda neat.........do a yahoo search.......
Answer 4 :
More like an hour drive. There's not much to see. I-25 is right on the line between the edge of the prairie and the mountains. The population of Denver goes mostly north of it, to the south toward Pueblo its pretty much zip. It's The West, so buy some guns and hunt jackrabbits? Probably some mining history there if you want to look it up.
Answer 5 :
Just North of the Springs there is a Mining Museum and the Air Force Academy.
Answer 6 :
There are tons of things you can do. You travel to the Rockies and see the Aspen trees. Also, there's Brackenridge, Aspen, and other places to visit. I think Denver has an outstanding zoo. I don't know the name of the place, but there is a restaurant there that serves excellent grass-fed bison, too.
Answer 7 :
Denver: -16th Street Mall -See’s candies tour -Hammonds Candy factory tour (free candy samples) -Tour state capital -Tour Brown Palace -Denver Mint (get reservations early) -Molly Brown house -Botanic gardens -Denver Zoo -Denver Museum of Nature and Science -Ocean Journey -Elitch Gardens amusement park -Lakeside amusement park -Water World -Invesco Field Tour Golden: -Lookout Mountain (Buffalo Bills grave and bison herd) -Colorado Mills Mall -Red Rocks Amphitheater (concert or movie) -Dinosaur Ridge -Town of Morrison -Railroad Museum Castle Rock: -Hike to the castle rock -Outlet Mall Centennial / Parker / Aurora: -Amazing Jake's -Park Meadows mall -The Wildlife Experience CO Springs: -Flying W Ranch rodeo, dinner, shows -Seven Falls -Cheyenne Mountain Zoo -Garden of the Gods -Colorado Gators -Tour Air Force Academy -US Olympic Complex -Royal Gorge rail road, bridge, and park -Pikes Peak road or cog railway -Paint Mines park -Manitou Springs -Cave of the Winds -Manitou cliff dwellings -Mollie Kathleen Gold Mine -Patsy's chocolate factory tours -Miramont Castle tours and Victorian lunches -Colorado Wolf and Wildlife center Then of course there's the scenic drives, skiing, hiking, camping, fishing, rafting, etc all over the mountains. About Where do I find a rideshare from Orange County, CA to Colorado Springs, CO

Where do I find a rideshare from Orange County, CA to Colorado Springs, CO?
I am relocating to a small town east of Colorado Springs for work. After researching the cost of renting a cargo van, I found the cost of the move is way out of my price range. Where do I find a network or classified section that targets people sharing travel expenses and carpooling cross country?

Arapahoe Basin, Colorado, 87 miles, vertical drop 2270 feet Eldora, Colorado, 87 miles, vertical drop 1600 feet Loveland, Colorado, 90 miles, vertical drop 2410 feet Winter Park, Colorado, 88 miles, vertical drop 3060 feet Breckenridge, Colorado, 95 miles, vertical drop 3398 feet Keystone, Colorado, 91 miles, vertical drop 2900 feet Copper Mountain, Colorado, 101 miles, vertical drop 2601 feet Ski Cooper, Colorado, 110 miles, vertical drop 1200 feet SolVista, Colorado, 101 miles, vertical drop 1000 feet Monarch, Colorado, 110 miles, vertical drop 1171 feet Vail, Colorado, 119 miles, vertical drop 3450 feet
Answer 2 :
A Basin would be the closest I think for skiing.
Answer 3 :
Breckenridge, Keystone, Arapahoe Basin, Keystone, Copper Mtn., and Vail are all 80-100 miles out of denver (close to the same from colorado springs, just the other way) They are all close together, and vail, breck, keystone, and a-basin are on the same tickets. (so you can do breck in the day, and keystone at night)
Answer 4 :
Copper Mountain Loveland Arapahoe Basin Keystone Breckenridge Winter Park Eldora Those are located north west & west of Denver. I don't know anything about them. When we go to Colorado to ski, we always go to Beaver Creek, which is west of Vail.
Answer 5 :
There aren't any ski resorts close to Colorado Springs, most of them are off I-70 west of Denver. Eldora is about 20 miles west of Boulder - up Boulder Canyon. Eldora is somewhere the locals day trip to. Winter Park is the closest major ski area to Denver, west on I-70, north on highway 40, over Berthoud pass. If you go to the Dillon area there are numerous resorts close by.
Answer 6 :
keystone
Answer 7 :
probably winterpark, or eldora its the closest ski resort to denver, they are both kinda by blackhawk
Answer 8 :
I really like Keystone!
Answer 9 :
OKAY THEN!!!! The actual answer you want is...Loveland Basin is just 53 miles up I-70 from Denver. It is on the east side of the Divide and the closest place to Denver(or Springs for that matter) if you want a good place to ski. Everything else is through the tunnel and into Silverthorne and beyond. So you would have about 1.5 hours of drive time from Denver, given the traffic on a weekend morning heading for the slopes. Check the conditions before you go. We have not had much snow for November yet. So who knows what will come through in the next month and a half. But you'll still have fun. Enjoy!

Most that I've been finding only accept credit cards! If you know one...the number and address would be fantastic.

What an odd predicament! It really is a sign of our times when a company only takes plastic! Gillian Rosenthal is the owner/manager of Travel, Travel. Suite 208I at 5975 North Academy Blvd I know they accept checks in addition to credit cards. Why not give Gillian a personal call and explain the situation? You can do this on: 719 593-1591 or 800 284-0890 Or you can email her on: tvltvl@travelx2.com Another idea Katalina, you could purchase your travel plans and buy a bank check to pay for them

About travel time to ski areas from colorado springs

travel time to ski areas from colorado springs?
Hi everyone! I am thinking of moving to Colorado Springs. I was wondering if anyone knows actual travel times to the closest ski areas. I heard Breckenridge is about a 2 hr drive up 24/9. Is that how it is even in the winter? Is that the closest/best place for a day trip? Any info is helpful! Thanks!

Answer 1 :
Here's estimated times from Google Maps: Loveland: 2 hours 2 minutes Arapahoe Basin: 2 hours 6 minutes Keystone: 2 hours 15 minutes Breckenridge: 2 hours 29 minutes Vail: 2 hours 36 minutes It's going to totally depend on the traffic - if you miss Denver rush hour, you'll make those times. If not, you could be delayed by an hour or more. And of course, if there's a snowstorm, there could be delays of an hour or more, or even road closures. Just keep an eye on the forecast and weather. You'll also want to watch road conditions for I-25 between Co Springs and Denver - sometimes they close the area running through the Palmer Divide because of strong winds and drifting. Lots and lots of people make day trips to the ski resorts from Colorado Springs - just keep the things above in mind and you'll be fine.
Answer 2 :
The times to the ski areas already mentioned seem close to accurate depending on how far from I-25 you live. I would recommend trying Monarch just a little west of Salida on Hwy 50. I went there quite a bit when I lived just north of the Academy. A smaller area but still good variety and fun terrain to explore. Besides there were discount coupons and whatnot if you look around. They seemed to be close to the same drive time as the more popular ski areas around Summit County. And the drive was usually an easy one. Monarch would get some good dumps like many Colorado ski areas. With less visitors than the Areas closer to Denver, this means more snow to track up too! Don't forget Crested Butte ski area. This a large ski area with lots of incredible terrain especially if you like to challenge yourself. Plan on another maybe 1.5 hrs further. Well worth the visit though.
Answer 3 :
I'd plan at least 2-1/2 hours from COS to Breckenridge, but the drive should be less stressful if you take 24/9 rather than I-5 (and shorter). You should have less traffic and not as many agro drivers. Monarch and Crested Butte are nice, as previously mentioned, but Monarch Pass can be treacherous in the winter and getting to Crested Butte is still quite a hike beyond Monarch. Breckenridge has lots of upsides - lots of terrain for all levels and a true ski town to match. The people are laid back and friendly, and there's plenty to do both on and off the slopes. If you plan on hitting the slopes at least six days, I'd highly recommend this year's Epic Pass, which gives you access to Breckenridge and five other mountains for $599 with no restrictions or black out dates. That's the pass I have. To read more about Breckenridge of the Epic Pass, check out my blog at http://www.breckenridge-lodging.org/blog/ Drive safe, and have fun!
