About Whats the best way to get from Colorado Springs Airport to the Downtown Bus Terminal

Whats the best way to get from Colorado Springs Airport to the Downtown Bus Terminal?
Im travelling to Colorado Springs from Australia for a few short days on a budget and need to travel as efficiently, but overall as CHEAPLY as possible from Colorado Springs Airport to the general Downtown area (bus terminal). From research ive done online it looks like the route via bus/public transport is to take Route 24 from Peterson AFB to Citadel Mall, then via Route 8 to the Downtown Terminal? Would this be correct, and what's the general mode of transport from the Internal Arrival COS Airport terminals up to the Peterson bus stop? Is there an airport shuttle that runs to the bus stop? Aside from using buses, what are my other options? Im also leaving Colorado Springs via Amtrak that starts with a bus service. Before i call Amtrak, can someone who knows, possibly confirm where Amtrak bus links/services leave from? Downtown Terminal? And to squeeze another one in, so i at least am prepared if needed, what's the average cost of a cab from COS to the Downtown Terminal? ( I should just clarify, when i mentioned the Downtown Bus Terminal, i mean the Colorado Springs Downtown Bus Terminal)

You can take a Greyhound bus from Colorado Springs to Denver which would be the fastest and most comfortable option. You might do that going back once you got to Denver. http://www.greyhound.com/home/en/TicketsAndTravel/TicketsAndTravelInfo.aspx Here is the information on ground transportation from the Colo Springs airport. I don't know the Springs well enough to know exactly where the buses go in relation to the Greyhound terminal. Peterson field doesn't sound too close to the airport if I remember correctly. http://www.springsgov.com/AirportPage.aspx?PageID=1788 Cabs tend to be pricey. I would check with the shuttle services first. You might check with Colorado Tour Lines and Gray Line and see what they offer. The guided tour might be worth a few extra dollars.

Well at least you don't have to go to the Denver Bus Station. That would be expensive. First I'm not in Colorado Springs. But I did take a flight from there one time about 15 years ago. I used a shuttle from Denver to get there. I can tell you that the Airport is in the middle of nowhere. The is no bus service at the Airport. The general general mode of transportation to get the the bus stop you want , would be a taxicab. First problem, the cab driver would have a hard time finding the right place to let you out. If he did manage to let you out at the right place. You'd be waiting on the side of the road for up to one hour waiting for that bus. Then transferring to another bus that runs once an hour. Since you say you have only a few short days here, forget that plan. Don't wast your time that way. Just take the cab from the Airport to the Greyhound Bus Station 120 South Weber Street in Colorado Springs. I don't know the price. It will probably be a bit expensive, but at least you'll get there in 15 - 20 min, instead of hours. If you have any extra time you can walk around Downtown Colorado Springs, before you catch your bus. Enjoy your trip
